Associated Archives at St. Mary’s Seminary and University
Candidate for Executive Council (Seat B)

Candidate statement

I am honored to be a candidate for the ACHA Executive Council. Like many members, I became active in the Association as graduate student when I participated in a panel at a spring meeting. I have returned to attend and participate in meetings over the course of my career because of the collegiality and fellowship I experienced at that first meeting and have continued to experience ever since.

I am currently director of the Associated Archives at St. Mary’s Seminary & University, which holds the archives of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, St. Mary’s Seminary & University, and the U.S. Province of the Sulpician Fathers, where for nearly two decades I have worked both to preserve and provide access to these collections. Promoting dialogue between scholars who study U.S. Catholicism and the archivists who care for the collections of Catholic institutions has been an important issue for me and I have organized and participated in a number of panels dedicated to the subject. From these efforts, I have seen how both communities can benefit by working together to address such pressing issues as access, outreach, and preserving at risk collections. If elected, I will continue to advocate for greater collaboration in shared areas of concern.

I would welcome the opportunity to work with the Executive Council to support the mission of the Association.

Thank you for your consideration.
