Candidate statement

Lauren Tassone is a PhD student in Harvard University’s Committee on the Study of Religion (CSR) focusing on Catholicism, media, and gender. Her research interests include the history of Roman Catholic women religious, American Catholicism, and religion in film and digital media. She holds a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree in Religion, Ethics, and Politics from Harvard Divinity School (HDS) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Cognitive Science and Organizational Studies from the University of Michigan. Lauren previously worked on Learning and Development priorities in the nonprofit sector in New York City and was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. At Harvard, Lauren works as a Resident Tutor in Winthrop House, serves on the CSR Doctoral Subcommittee, and has participated in a faculty search committee. Lauren is thrilled about the opportunity to join the ACHA Executive Council, where she hopes to meet and learn from colleagues who share her interest in the history of Catholicism. On the Council, Lauren intends to contribute her leadership and organization skills while advancing her career as a scholar-teacher of American Catholic history. She thanks her fellow ACHA members for voting for her and entrusting her with this important and exciting role!
