2011 ACHA Spring Meeting in Toronto

Overview

The Spring 2011 Conference of the ACHA will be held at the University of Saint Michael’s College in the University of Toronto from April 15-16, 2011.  This is the second  conjoint conference with the Canadian Catholic Historical Association, whose English sector is based at Saint Michael’s College. Online registration for the Conference will begin September 1, 2010

The theme of the 2011 Conference is “Catholics Across Boundaries: Local or International Church, Missions, Wars, Immigration Issues, Fighting Communism.”

Call for Papers

The Program Committee now asks the members of the American Catholic Historical Association  and the Canadian Catholic Historical Association to propose topics and speakers for individual papers or (preferably) for complete sessions. A brief abstract of each paper and brief curriculum vitae of each speaker should be included. Participants from the ACHA and the CCHA are eligible to present papers. If you are not a member of either society, you can join the ACHA now.  Proposals should be submitted by October 1st to the chairman of the program committee, Professor Terence Fay SJ, via e-mail or postal mail:

A National Society For the Promotion of Interest in the History of the Canadian Catholic Church
Founded 3 June 1933

Members belong either to the English Section of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association, or to the French Section of La Société Canadienne D’ Histoire de L’Eglise Catholique. Each Section is autonomous and holds its own annual conference. The French Section usually holds its conference in French-speaking cities in the autumn.

The English Section of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association holds an annual conference at which the results of historical research are presented and an annual business meeting is held. The conference is held at the time and place of the annual meeting of the Learned Societies of Canada. Some of the proceedings of this meeting are published in the refereed journal of that year.

The 76th annual meeting of the Canadian Catholic Historical Association will be held at Concordia University, Montreal, May 31 – June 1, 2010 in conjunction with the Annual Congress of the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences (May 28 – June 4, 2010).
