ACHA Announces Election Results

We are happy to announce the election of new officers for the American Catholic Historical Association.

Vice President

Thomas F.X. Noble

Professor Thomas Noble, chair of the Department of History at the University of Notre Dame has been elected Vice President in 2011 and will succeed Professor Larissa Taylor as President of the ACHA in 2012. We thank Professor Francis Oakley of Williams College for his willingness to stand for election. His long term support of the ACHA is greatly appreciated.

Anne Klejment

Professors Anne Klejment of the University of Saint Thomas and R. Bentley Anderson S.J. of Fordham University have been elected to the Executive Council for a term of three years beginning on January 8, 2011. They succeed Professors Richard Gribble C.S.C. of Stonehill College and Timothy Matovina, Director of the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism at the University of Notre Dame. We thank Professors Una Mary Cadegan of the University of Dayton and James P. McCartin of Seton Hall University for their willingness to stand for election and we hope they will consider running again for office in the ACHA.

Nominating Committee

Mark Ruff

Professor Mark Ruff of Saint Louis University has been elected to the Nominating Committee for a term of three years. He joins the next committee chair, Professor Kathleen Sprows Cummings of the Cushwa Center at the University of Notre Dame and Professor Emily O’Brien of Simon Fraser University. He will serve as chair of the committee during the final year of his term. We thank Professor Richard Crane of Greensboro College for his willingness to stand for election and hope he will consider running again for office in the ACHA.

The results are announced with the permission of Professor Kevin Spicer, chair of the Nominating Committee. Kevin and his colleagues Professors Cummings of Notre Dame and O’Brien of Simon Fraser, provided an excellent roster of candidates.
