In Detail: Institutional Challenge Grant

The ACHA Institutional Challenge Grant is available to a member in good standing who is planning a conference, during the spring semester 2013, at his/her home institution that deals with some aspect of Catholic History.  The ACHA award will be based on the amount of funding the host institution is providing for the function. The deadline for applying for a grant is October 31, 2013. Notification of awards will be no later than December 15, 2013 . Please send applications to [email protected].

Funding will be awarded on a competitive basis to individuals and institutions that promote the mission of the American Catholic Historical Association: scholarly pursuit of the study of Catholicism.  All those competing for ACHA grants must be a member at the time he/she applies and remain a member-in-good-standing through the duration of the grant.

A maximum of $1000 in grant dollars is available.

Application instructions

All applicants must submit the application form for the appropriate grant. The applications can be downloaded in the preceding section. All grant applications consist of three pages. Page One concerns the details of the overall project. Please fill in completely and thoroughly. Page Two is the narrative page; please do not exceed one page in presenting the information. Page Three is the finance page; please explain how the monies will be spent; please be as thorough and complete in your presentation.

Receiving the funding

Once awarded, recipients will receive half the funding before the travel or event takes place.  The other half of the grant will be awarded upon submission of an after action report, suitable for publication on the ACHA web site, detailing one’s research or sponsored event.  In all cases, acknowledgment of ACHA funding is expected.
