A special Holy Week edition of #HiddenCatholicCollection: a Stations of the Cross series created by Sr. Mary of the Compassion of the Society of the Perpetual Rosary of Union City, NJ, held at the Mary Nona McGreal, OP, Center for Dominican Historical Studies.
Sr. Mary of the Compassion was born Constance Dorothy Rowe in Wandsworth, England on March 17, 1908. Before entering the Society of the Perpetual Rosary in 1938, she studied at the Clapham School of Art and the Royal College of Art. She won the prestigious Prix de Rome. She worked in a range of media, including paintings, book illustrations, greeting and holy cards, silver and gold jewelry, mosaic reredos, and embroidered panels.
The finding aid for the collection has not yet been established, however, researchers are welcome to make an appointment to visit the archive in person.
