Catholicism, Public Scholarship, and the 2020 Election

The ACHA’s inaugural webinar, Catholicism, Public Scholarship, and the 2020 Election, was held on October 28, 2020, in the final days of the presidential campaign. Participants discussed the surge of media coverage on religion and politics and the role of public scholarship, the roles available to historians in political media, and whether media engagement opens new possibilities for the critical study of American Catholic history.

Moderator Brian Clites was joined by panelists Anthea Butler, Peter Cajka, Nicole Hemmer, Kaya Oakes, and Michael Pasquier.
