Call for Program and Panels for Princeton Conference

Spring had finally come to Philadelphia as members and guests of the ACHA met for their annual Spring conference April 17 – 18 at LaSalle University in north Philadelphia. One featured subject was the working relationship between Catholic archivists and research scholars. Not only was there a panel on the subject but the keynote speaker addressed himself to the topic. James O’Toole, the Clough Millennium Professor of History at Boston College, who was formerly archivist of the Archdiocese of Boston, described the difference in perspective these two professionals have. As O’Toole explained, “one sees the forest and the other the individual tree.” A number of archivists were present for this meeting as the ACHA has initiated a recent invitation for Catholic archivists to join the association.
