ACHA 101st ANNUAL MEETING
SEATTLE 2021

ACHA Executive Council Announces Cancellation of 2021 Annual Meeting in Seattle

Alternative programming being planned

July 24, 2020

The Executive Council of the American Catholic Historical Association wishes all of our members well during these uncertain times. We would like to thank you for keeping in touch with the ACHA office regarding the annual meeting, book prizes, summer funding, membership renewals, and other ACHA business. We want to assure you that the ACHA office is open, and though there may be delays in getting back to you this summer, we continue to operate fully.

This brief announcement is to share three items of business that the Executive Council conducted during a remote meeting this week. We will meet again in mid-August on Zoom to work out additional details for how we approach this coming academic year.

  1. In light of the continuing public health crisis, the ACHA will regretfully need to cancel the in-person conference originally scheduled for Seattle, January 2021. You may be aware that the American Historical Association announced its decision to cancel the Seattle meeting earlier this week. The ACHA is currently developing alternative programming for the forthcoming academic year intended to highlight the scholarship of its members. Plans will be forthcoming.
  2. We will also be suspending annual elections of ACHA leadership for one year and will inaugurate the new President and Executive Council in New Orleans in January 2022. Given limited opportunities to meet this year, and the cancellation of the annual meeting, the Executive Council seeks additional time to manage our delayed and/or cancelled ACHA activities.
  3. Finally, the ACHA signed on to the AHA Statement on Historical Research during COVID-19.

Please take care and be in touch,
